"You are the sky. Everything else  -it's just the weather."

Rebecca Sheeran M.S., CMHC, LMT

Rebecca Sheeran offers a gentle approach to connecting the body, mind, and spirit. She believes working with our thoughts and beliefs is essential, but not without including the body’s sensations and nervous system responses. Uncovering innate strengths and finding what is working in life is as necessary to healing as working with our struggles. Neuroscience shows that this activates brain regions involved in emotional regulation and reward processing, such as the prefrontal cortex and amygdala. Rebecca works with clients with trauma, depression, anxiety, sexual trauma, attachment issues, addiction, and personality struggles. Modalities include cognitive therapy, person-centered therapy, attachment work, somatics, evidenced-based tapping, imagery, and intergenerational work.

Rebecca has received her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, completed her coursework in Somatic Experiencing, trained in Mark Wollyns intergenerational work, and has been a Licensed Massage therapist since 1997. She is currently under supervision and working towards her licensure. Rebecca accepts AETNA and self-pay clients. Currently, she is discontinuing her massage and only working with current clients.

Rebecca graduated from the Utah College of Massage Therapy in 1995. Her coursework included anatomy, cadaver labs, physiology, trigger point therapy, deep tissue, sports massage, Russian massage, and Swedish massage, among other studies. She graduated from the University of Utah with a BA in Psychology in 2003. Rebecca has focused her continuing education on trigger point therapy, Segmental Bodywork, and ligament and tendon treatment for the back, neck, and shoulders.

Rebecca has worked in a variety of environments including private practice, working with the University of Utah football team, sports clubs, senior centers, at a chiropractor's office, a TA at the Utah College of Massage Therapy and at Southeast Medical Clinic.

Rebecca listens closely to each patient and works on problematic areas using deep tissue treatment, trigger point therapy, tendon and ligament-specific treatments; while keeping deep relaxation in mind. She is responsive to patient feedback throughout sessions and tailors her work to each person that she sees. Rebecca will bill some insurance companies.
